Eighteen stories by Hans Christian Andersen, among them The Emperor's New Clothes, The Little Match Girl, The Red Shoes and The Snow Queen are told here with line drawings by Leonard Weisgard. The lack of color, with the exception of the gay frontispiece, in conjunction with the stark stylized simplicity of the art treatment makes the volume a trifle unenriched- almost dehydrated.
