KIRKUS REVIEW

This is an account of a favorite, all absorbing occupation-diving to spearfish and to take underwater pictures of underseas life. While still a university student in Austria, his homeland, Hass and two friends went to the island of Curacao and stayed on there after the German annexation of Austria. His book is a story of the development of the passionate pursuit of his sport- fishing with spear and harpoon- in a series of sequences which derive their excitement from the duel of man against shark. The author occasionally imposes a forced, puerile style of humor, an irrelevant philosophy on what is primarily an authentic narrative of a dangerous game. There will be 58 action photograph halftones- of exceptional quality.
