I BUILT A STONE AGE HOUSE

In an effort to get a deeper sense of the life lived by ancient men, the author (in his native Denmark) started early to copy or reconstruct the artifacts and implements which he saw displayed in touch-me-not museum cases. In his young manhood, he reconstructed a stone age house. The main body of the text is devoted to this project. This involved two small trial houses before the big one was attempted, recruiting enthusiastic help of friends and a strict adherence to the tools and materials of Stone Age Danes. Clearly labeled line drawings by the author blueprint the back-reaking, ingenious work and there are photographs of the house at progressive stages. Shorter sections at the end of the book concern Stone Age skin boats and tools. The book is an inspiration for scouting and outdoor programs as well as an eye opening account of the physical stamina and intelligence of prehistoric man.
