SUNSPOTS AND THEIR EFFECTS

One could hardly expect a book on such a subject to be entertaining reading to the layman, but it is. Very entertaining, and written in such a way that one feels that sunspots may become as much a part of popular parlance as complexes and neuroses (and that their use as alibis may become as far-reaching). He discusses the matter from the scientific angle, and then devotes a large part of the space to the theories and the fairy tales that have grown up around sunspots and their effect or possible effect on dispositions, social trends, business cycles, agricultural conditions, even on the flight of carrier pigeons. A book which will appeal to those who want their science popularized.
