A jewel heist goes awry when the mastermind encounters an alluring man from her past in Wilde’s debut.

In the dead of night, Reilly Shay stealthily enters the villa of her latest target, a powerful Greek billionaire named Cirilo Kalfas. An antiquities curator–turned-thief, she’s looking for a bracelet, encrusted with diamonds and pink-orange sapphires, that’s part of a set known as the Lotus Collection. The retrieval is the easy part. But she didn’t plan on the arrival of an unwelcome guest, her former lover Grant Aubrey. They met in Houston years ago when she was working at the M0useum of Natural Science and he was hired as a security specialist for an exhibition of fine gems and jewelry. They began an intense relationship and discovered a shared interest in the shadowy world of illegal art commerce. Combining their skills in antiquities and security, Reilly and Grant embarked on a series of high-stakes art-and-jewelry recoveries and thefts, and they earned the sobriquet the Fox and the Sidewinder. Their relationship abruptly ended after a botched heist that left Reilly seriously injured. Now he’s back, hired by Cirilo to get the bracelet and kill Reilly. Will the Sidewinder outwit the Fox, or will they rediscover their mutual attraction? Reilly and Grant’s passion is palpable, and their frequent sexual encounters sizzle. Taking place over the course of one hot, steamy night, Wilde’s novel is long on exotic locales and erotic thrills. Despite its successes, the novel feels more like a sequel than a debut. Wilde laces the primary storyline with the elaborate history of her relationship with Grant, which intrigues more than the present-day narrative.

Quick and sultry, but the back story deserves more airtime.
