THE RIDE TO CHANDIGARH

Joined by four students in Bombay, the author trekked across India by bicycle with only the barest essentials and little money, but with the warm hospitality of a nation to tide him over. The author and his group often gave concerts but the welcomes they met from upper and lower caste alike seemed to indicate that these efforts were superfluous- even the bikes were decorated with flowers on occasion. Through sensitive and compassionate impressions the reader gets not only a picture of exotic scenery but of different ways of looking at the world.
