THE AXIS ON THE AIR

The columnist of the Chicago Sun analyzes radio propaganda today as it prepares the way for direct military assault, as it influences armies in action, and as it may assist the Allies in the foreshortening of the war. From an analysis of broadcasts, with illustrations from them, Ettlinger outlines Axis propaganda set-ups,-Goebbels and his assistants, Lord Haw Haw, Kaltenbach, Jane Anderson, Ezra Pound, etc. Tokyo radio and its techniques of ""thought warfare""; Axis methods to create resentment and separate the Allies on the war fronts, to create unrest on home fronts, and the various phony freedom stations. Present day difficulties for Goebbels in the face of the Russian victories, the North African rout, the use of alibis and silver linings and promises to deflect fear of invasions.
