Selected incidents shaped into an abbreviated life of Stormalong and pictured in woodcuts scaled to his size and stirred by his energy--the whole being the best fit, and the most fitting, for the younger child. Although the Malcolmson compilation is more comprehensive and may be considered more authentic (a dubious point since the tales are hearsay and fartlung anyhow). Mr. Felton offers deft entertainment. Without batting an eye he'll whisk Stormalong over the peninsula in a heavy dew or lure the salmon into the pot on the scent of plum duff. Outrageous fun for reading aloud or alone, and a boost for Stormalong as the seagoing peer of Paul Bunyan.
