THE STRATEGY OF FREEDOM: An Open Letter to American Youth by Harold Laski

THE STRATEGY OF FREEDOM: An Open Letter to American Youth

By

Publisher: Harper

The book is of broader interest than the sub-title would seem to indicate -- but on the other hand, the special need for a book for American youth is not met by this book. Be that as it may, this is as keen an analysis of the many problems that face the world if Hitler wins, if Great Britain and the allies win, if we stay out of active participation or if we come in as has crossed my desk. He points out the failure of England to understand the trends in Germany, Italy, and Japan; he discusses the change in Labor's stand and why; he presents the pros and cons of Churchill, before, during and after the crisis. First and last, he helps clarify the confusion in regard to aid to Russia, and the basic need for democratic forces to conquer if social advances of the century are to be kept. Here are the main answers to appeasers everywhere, to pacifists, to isolationists. In cool, objective manner, without rancor, he presents his position so as to stir the mind and the emotions.
