BASEBALL IS THEIR BUSINESS

An excellent roundup of occupations in the field, the description being given in each case by the job holder himself. Dick Young of the New York Daily News tells of a sportswriter's times in the clubhouse, arguments with the team's manager, need for a liberal education; umpire Charles F. Berry of the American League recounts those spats on the diamond; first baseman Gil Hodges of the Brooklyn Dodgers warns against getting out of condition, against trying to make the grade without the spirit. It's all pretty sensibly written. Lively too, and it should prove of value for those informative hints for the interested or for those who plan to make it their living.
