An anthropological study -- dealing with the author's ""heretical"" theories concerning the origin of the American Indian -- a study done in too facetious a manner (with cartoons on almost every page) for the anthropologists, while the subject itself is too esoteric for the general public. Gladwin's purpose is to disprove the general theory of psychic unity, -- that similar customs, physical features and inventions occur in lands and periods completely apart from each other; and to prove specifically that the American his culture are evolved from many migrations from various places rather than the hitherto generally accepted theory of migration across the Bering Isthmus. Easy reading but a wrong medium, a wrong approach, to command due attention.
