A fairly routine coverage of the problem of alcoholism which gives full due to its derivation in emotional unbalance and asks for understanding rather than indifference or neglect of the drinker. The definition of alcoholics- there are four million in the United States; its physical effects and its psychological causes; therapeutic measures, techniques, medical, psychiatric, AA, but primarily the will to overcome this problem; the woman drinker; and popular misconceptions about drinking in general. There's nothing new here (and there have been a number of books on this subject) but this will provide a general orientation for those concerned.
