The story of Chris and Dick and a mad moment on a chaperoneless weekend which brought sorrow and years of separation to both. Chris becomes pregnant, but refuses to risk Dick's chances for a career, so is silent and goes to Canada to have her child. The child is disposed of -- she goes on to California -- and the secret stands between them, blocking their understanding for a long time. Second rate sentiment.
