Here again is the enticing quality of gentle wit and fresh simplicity in verse found in All Kinds of Time (1950, p. 414). Many things- nature, sounds, curiosity, the on the weather vane, a baby bird, a moon vine that grows a shiny new crescent- are talked about with an imaginativeness that includes a child's experience but also leads to new thoughts. Amusing realism comes to the picture of the bird, whose mother feeds him a squirming worm; elisions magnify the enchantment of the moon bearing vine; and there is a magic and eagerness for life throughout the volume. Simple brown line drawings by the author.
