THE PAINTED CAVE

... was home to a little boy who lived at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. His name was Great Hunter. But he felt that he was not yet ready to live up to his name. Earth Mother changed his name to Dawn-Boy in return for his promise that he would live with The People. But Beetle usurps the name Great Hunter, harassing Bluejay Cloud. Cloud unfairly bests Beetle, who dies trying to help Dawn-Boy. The plot is too complex, the personification of animals too confusing and interest tenuous.
