KIRKUS REVIEW

Youngsters who have long associated the Great Plains states only with farming and especially with wheat will be enlightened by this brief account of the multi-varied occupations in which men are engaged in this area of our country. Chapters on food crops and cattle raising take their place among those on the canning and leather industries, glass manufacture, wool raising and mining. Like the author's two previous additions to the Men at Work series, Men at Work in Hawaii and Men at Work in the Mountain States, this is simply presented text-book style information recommended for social studies reading in the elementary grades.
