Rabbi David Small acquired a substantial following when Friday the Rabbi Slept Late and Saturday the Rabbi Went Hungry. And there will be more than a minyan after this one as the Rabbi faces the split-up of his temple -- it all started with the policy of best seats for the most generous givers, a custom that the temple's new political regime wants to abandon. And it carries on with meshuggener temple politics -- until the murder of a young Jewish pot-pusher. The dayan Rabbi has to use a little logic and a lot of tact to solve a case that threatens other members of his congregation. As for the audience -- you don't have to be Jewish to be a folks-mensh.
