KIRKUS REVIEW

The background is Peru, the mountain section, but it might be any Latin American mountainous country. It is the story of a peasant and his dog, and of how the dog thought he would be better company if he could whistle -- and of how fate intervened and almost lost him his place in the sun. Nice pictures in two tones, by Howard Simon, and an attractively made book.
