KIRKUS REVIEW

A little verse which tells the sad but familiar tale of a little girl required to wear something she detests, in this case a hat with a rose. The mischievous attempts of a little bully to destroy it only challenges mother's ability to sew and reshape, until finally the hat is beyond repair. The little girl's inward exhilaration becomes desperation when Mother appears with another hat with a rose. Although illustrations and text are in a humorous vein, real fun is at a minimum.
