KIRKUS REVIEW

So that the West can meet the East with the best of briefings, this voluminous guide (comparable in coverage to his European Aboard and Abroad) offers a very thorough indoctrination for the prospective traveller. From the initial information on climates, visas, ship and air passage, clothes, this goes on to provide alternative itineraries, recommend hotels (with rates-services) and restaurants (their specialties), indicates what to shop for, sights, currencies, holidays- festivals and special events, before providing a comprehensive description of each area- from the Philippines and Hawaii to Japan, Malaya, Hong Kong and Singapore, Viet Nam, and many other spots in the Far East. It should prove very valuable, particularly since Fielding will offer no competition in this part of the world.
