FOGBOUND

Working for $2.00 a week in his family's shipping firm in New York, in the 1840's, fourteen-year-old Will Hardy finds that dishonest dealing has deprived his mother of her fair income. Good and bad characters follow a movie pattern and the story will appeal to young readers, especially boys, who have been brought up on this kind of melodrama. The villain's ultimate gory end will not bother boys as much as it did me. The well-written plot holds the attention and the book will be read for fun though not as ""literature.
