ALONG THE MAINE COAST

There should be a Maine Clui -- perhaps there is- for all the books that offer Maine in alluring terms. I sometimes wonder how much appeal such sharply regional books have for the section of the country away from the eastern seaboard. Here is the record of a 300 mile walk, from Kittery to Eastport, tempered by a few side excursions by boat, to include the enchanted islands off shore. There are jottings on biographical and historical interest, legend and story and anecdote. There's contagious sense of deep love of a region.
