THAT DARNED MINISTER'S SON

A harum scarum life with father in New Hampshire that makes the most of the mischievous and personal ""infamities"" of the author's childhood circa 1910. From spitballing Papa in the pulpit, to fires, skunks under the schoolroom, stolen cakes on to episodes connected with the church organ and heating system, this is full of early 20th century country life. There are parties, the Grange, the first automobile, the interest in the telephone, the dramatic society, sermons and milking, covered bridges, horseracing, school District #9 and its strange fame, farming, etc., etc., all with the congregation and townspeople and church affairs combining into a warm picture of family life in a minister's home. There's lots of food, some of mother's recipes, and also a pleasant blend of religion and ery day living. A definite feel of a buttoned-up but hearty life here.
