This wonderfully, wacky collection of Herbertania, some of which have appeared in , is real meat for chuckles. Herbert, the incorrigible nine-year-old impresario horrifies, charms and bewilders the small mid-West town in which he causes so many uproarious things to happen. There is the story of Herbert's magnificent can collection for which his father built a new wing to the house, an experiment with a chemical set which made him invisible, a zoo of wild animals, an embarrassingly candid newspaper of neighborhood news edited by Herbert, and always the advice of wise Uncle Horace who arrives just in time to prevent complete disaster.
