KIRKUS REVIEW

A better-than-average fishing yarn featuring Donald Jordan and his grandfather, Captain Eben. Lobstering is the daily chore of these Maine natives but there is also a voyage after sword fish on the schooner Nancy B., and a night in a marooned rowboat within spitting distance of a cavorting school of whales. Even the inclusion of the customary summer visitors does not quite spoil the story. The growth of a sense of responsibility in a small boy is well handled.
