COFFEE

We are brought up to the idea that spices brought about the discovery of America -- but none of us have thought of coffee playing a part in the French Revolution, in the Seven Years' War, in any number of really vital steps in political, social, economic history. Here is the epic of coffee -- the legend and story that have grown up around it -- the social agencies that have come into being through it -- the story in man power that it has written -- the part it has played in colonial development, and so on. A fascinating and absorbing saga. Double market -- the industrial one, for you can surely place a few copies with customers in the commodity business; and the growing public interested in odd slants on social history (i.e. the big public for Rats, Lice and History).
