KIRKUS REVIEW

Companion volume to two earlier books, Four Sons of Norway. Three Boys of Old Russia, this continues the aim to show that, in knowing the people of other countries, ""we come to the great fact that the men of our world are brothers"" and in its simple directness gives a competent account of Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei, Nicolo Paganini and Giuseppe Verdi. The emphasis here of necessity is on the artistic but the five biographical sketches include much of the history and contemporary characters, and the flamelike character of their subjects' legendary lives is transmitted. Excellent supplementary and reference material.
