KIRKUS REVIEW

Closely related in the contribution the four of them made to Norway's cultural life,- Ole Bull, violinist and troubadour, Henrik Ibsen, writer and dramatist, Edvard Grieg, composer -- and more recently, Fridtjog Nansen, explorer, national leader, contributor toward humanitarian world problems. Each story is simply and directly told, chiefly in relation to the contributions made- rather than in relation to the men as individuals. While a fuller more dramatic treatment might add depth and color, this is a competent job of brief biography, a useful reference book.
