BIG ZOO

100 photographs and an informative text combine to take one behind the scenes in the Bronz Zoo, New York. In varying degrees, the basic facts are true of zoo everywhere, so the interest should be general. This is not a conventional animal book, but a marshalling of facts about where the animals are secured and how, about their care, medical and physical, their housing, food, the effort made to give them surroundings and conditions conductive to their content, and the various uses to which zoo are put. I have not seen the photographs, but feel confident that one can be very sure that Viking will have the best. The text matter and the captions are excellent.
