STATE COLLEGE

When I was a child I read the Betty Wales series with avidity. This is the same type of book, the story of a freshman year at a middle western state university. It has the same mixture of freshman year pranks, adventures and misadventures, of local color, of classroom patter, of extra-curricular activities, of athletics, etc. I don't know of another college story with this particular setting -- most of them are eastern coast or western coast backgrounds, and this fills a very definite gap.
