KIRKUS REVIEW

Here's a story for those who like classical settings -- in this case, Greece, during the invasion of the Medes. But not for the I, Claudius and the Tros of Samothrace crowd. Rather, perhaps, for those who liked Peter Abelard. Full of lore, of an acceptance of the religious element governing life, of descriptions of rites and ceremonies, with a slight touch of Lawrencian sex (quite in keeping with the fertility rites, however).
