Any discussion of what happens here (a young American girl, a harper [sic], goes to a small village in Northern Ireland to stay at a house called The Harper, is followed by her two brothers, one of whom believes she's a courier for the IRA, to an Abbey full of provisionals and disappearing priests) does this book a dishonor it easily merits. But the local coloring (which consists of the inn and a pub where they sing bawdy ballads and a castle and the Abbey -- surely built of blarney stone) is rather fun for a change of scenery.
