The competition here will be Janet Payne Chapin's The AdjustabLe Diet Cookbook (Funk & Wagnalls--p. 1168) which structured about three times as many meals around 600 calories (850 per diem here) but is considerably higher priced. Mrs. Corbitt, the Neiman-Marcus restaurateur who also instituted this diet at a luxury health spa in Texas, is a touch more gourmet, not quite as delicate (although she does say slimming rather than dieting) and there are a few more substantial fillers (potroast, roast veal) in between Essence of Celery soup and Artichoke Souffle. She's not as tearoomy either.
