KRISTA AND THE FROSTY PACKAGE

Pre-summer adventures of a young Krista, whose Estonian mother and father work in a frozen food plant in New Jersey. The thread of story takes Krista from her wish to find a summer job through a tour of the plant and temporarily losing her dog, to the promise of being able to baby-sit for the plant manager. And the author has carefully woven the story thread into the growing, packing, freezing and living-in-company-houses life design of the plant workers. Perhaps less appealing than her recent Fisherman Jody, but good story and good experience. Ursula Koering's ink drawings are vigorous and pleasingly rounded. Cloth binding, reenforced.
