KIRKUS REVIEW

This is a handbook of many familiar and some unusual insects. A brief introductory chapter establishes the methods of classification and the main orders of insect life. The author/illustrator's work can be seen in the animal color plates of Britanica and Colliers. A short chapter on the collection and preservation of insects following the handbook portion, provides a quick guide for the beginner. The concluding chapter is a bonus extra of the various ways that the insect population has starred in legend, literature, art and music.
