Motivations and action in this mystery don't quite jell to this reader. Meg Wakefield and her brother could go to college only if he were given a scholarship. And, when his science notebook with the thirty six experiments disappeared at the scene of an accident Meg sets out to find out who owned the convertible car with the license plate which began with the initials JD. Without the notebook Robert could not win the scholarship. As Meg discovers the identity of the girl who was responsible, she recovers the notebook and gains a beau. Predictable and a little implausible.
