Songs and music have inspired poets from the time of the Old Testament to the present as Helen Plotz's latest work attests. In her last book Mrs. Plotz compiled poetry in praise of science, Imagination's Other Place. Now she turns her attention to a comprehensive anthology which taps sources as varied as Shakespeare and Ogden Nash for thoughts on the music of our sphere. Feathered songsters or tin-whistle players have inspired verse, serious or tongue-in-check. As in her other book, the illustrations are black and white wood engravings by Clare Leighton. Verses celebrating the dance are given a section of the book. For the readership it seeks, this is a rich anthology.
