Another appealing historical novel for girls by the author of Pilgrim Kate and of the Green Gate (p. 101-1950). This is the third book about the Endicott family, and colonial days. Susannah Endicott, leaving her Long Island home, travels in an ox cart to New York in 1683 to go to school. Lonely at first, living with her aunt and uncle, Susannah soon makes friends with Nicole, a Dutch bound girl, and Richard Page, a charming boy her own age. School, a party, skating, attending a horse race, and going to a grand reception incline Susannah's mind more favorably to New York town. Susannah is a spirited heroine, and her doings absorbing.
