MYSTERY AT THE OLD PLACE by Helen Fuller Orton

MYSTERY AT THE OLD PLACE

By

Publisher: Stokes-Lippincott

Pretty thin mystery and an oddly old-fashioned feel to the telling in this second rate tale of some farm children who find evidence of the ""old place"" being used by ""tramps"". Silver spoons disappear, when carelessly left behind with picnic remains, tin cups and remnants of food are gone, the bed has been disturbed --and the culprits turn out to be a small Dutch refugee lad and his little sister. Sort of story that might have quite a thrill if told as a true happening in childhood of a past day, but which seems dated wrong when set in today.
