KIRKUS REVIEW

An adequate rather than imperative book for the new dog owner, lacking the charm of Kinney and Honeycutt's How to Raise a Dog (S & S) and not covering as fully or ably the problems of urban dog life. However, this does give an idea on raising and training a puppy, specific city problems (laws about dogs, etc.), diets with meat rationing considered, causes and treatments of ailments, treatment of old dogs, of females. Sensible, kindly, patient -- at times controversial.
