Hoke reportedly applied the three out of five test to the jokes included in her seventh collection: she told each candidate to five people, and if at least three of them laughed it went in. She doesn't tell us anything about the ages or nationalities of her guinea pigs (some of the jokes have a British orientation) but we can only surmise that, whoever they were, the samplers were awfully ticklish.
