First rate summer reading, which probably would not rank as a Must Book at a peak season, but which is a sure candidate for popularity in July. Helen Hull is an expert craftsman, a good psychologist and she senses the popular pulse (and human problems) admirably. This is a story of modern marriage, of two women both in the position of dominance, financially, one as a successful novelist, with a second husband who wallows in the luxury she supplies; the other a young wife, whose husband's sudden disability thrusts her into the business world -- and gives her a first taste of success. Interesting contrast in the effect on the two husbands -- and their ways out. Smoothly told story of a many faceted problem.
