By the author of The Secrets of the Dolphin and The House of Many Colors, this story is short but it has the clarity and simple wisdom of an old folktale. Grandma Babushka is the knitter for her family, and she is the one who makes the new stockings for Christmas. Tanya is the smallest of the four children, so she must wait the longest for her pair. In the meantime she has several lessons: she learns that if she is impatient like Olga, Grandma will stop making her stockings; she learns to knit; and she discovers that she can help poor stockingless Olga.
