THE HORSE ON THE HILL

An imbalance of emphasis between the mystery element and the horseshoe happenings of this mystery -cum -equestrienne story makes interest flag. Midge Porter manages to establish the identity of an orphaned French girl who is in danger of deportation and she tames a stray horse whom she finds in her grandfather's pasture, but in effect there are two stories with neither really dominant. Easy reading, though both plots are hackneyed.
