THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM SHIP

Helen O'Clery spins a hearty sea yarn with suspense and excitement as its prime ingredients and the Atlantic coast as a setting of adventures Brian encountered when he visited his grandmother who lived close to the sea. The central focus of these adventures was the Phantom Ship, glimpsed one day by Brian and his friend Finn, the blacksmith. Later, on Seal Island, a strange isolated place with its own laws and ruled by a ""king"", Brian meets smugglers, discovers an underground harbor cave, becomes involved with castaways and a mistrustful police sergeant, and participates in rescues. Boys of 11 to 13 will escape pleasantly into Brian's dangerous and tempest tossed world. A well written mystery told in the first person.
