This is a collection of short stories which have appeared over the years in Woman's Home Companion. The editor of the collection who was Executive Editor of the magazine for many years has assembled the stories under various categories-love stories, stories about children and animals, the past, crime stories, stories about special characteristics found in life -- courage, irony, and stories about outstanding people. Some of the writers represented are: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Katherine Mansfield, Elizabeth Goudge, Shirley Jackson, Faith Baldwin, Lin Yutang, Dorothy Baker, Kay Boyle, and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings; most of the contributors are names which would be largely familiar to readers of the women's magazines. It's a large collection and a varied offering providing something for all kinds of tastes, chiefly feminine.
