Haddad's caxeful but comfortable directions, instructive yet easygoing drawings, variety of manageable techniques, sequenced challenge, and attention to possible problems make this an excellent first book on printmaking. The simple red and black sample prints shown for each lesson could be more inspiring, but they are unintimidating, sometimes clever, and, most important, suggestive of the possibilities of the technical variation in question. A boon to teachers, group leaders, and crafty kids.
