KIRKUS REVIEW

Melanie is a student of Madame Vittoria anxious to try for a scholarship to study music. Her uncle in Texas conveniently leaves a legacy so that she may go to study at the Boston Conservatory of Music. But her aunt at summer camp is called away in an emergency. Melanie goes by boat to baby-sit. On the way back there is a squall and she is shipwrecked on an island with a hermit whose plans seeds tuning. So she tunes it. She gets back to the mainland in time to play in a duet at a recital. Believe it or not.
