The problems of rural life on the northwest coast are solved by young Karen who with her ingenuity and interest in theatrics returns for the summer to the town where her father runs a fishery and brings fun into life with the puppet shows she puts on. Discouraged by the prospect of a dull three months, Karen takes heart when she realizes a whole community will appreiate what she has to offer. Life takes on a double purpose too, when the shows become the means of earning enough money to buy a boat for Miss Radfor who Island camp for underprivileged children on little more than the goodness of her heart. The along with a small romance, a near-accident, and further problem-solving for a from a disrupted family, bring their rewards for Karen. Warm and unpretentious.
