CHRISTMAS WITH ROBERT E. LEE

Pub Date: Sept. 25th, 1958

In her presidential Christmas series, this pictures the first gathering of the Lee family after the General had ""lost the war"". It follows Mary Custis Lee on her journey with two of the daughters to join her husband at Washington College, introduces her to the kindness of her new neighbors, shows the homely scene of her washing and cutting Lee's hair, the growing excitement with the coming of the two sons who are working their inheritance, of the collecting of unexpected gifts, and culminates in the morning of the giving and the thankfulness for the family's being together. The feeling of early post-civil war strains, Lee's approach to and aims for his college, and the close family atmosphere are here recreated in a possible series of happenings. A vignette for an established market.
